The generate routine in the Win32 version runs approximately 4 times faster than the Win16 version. However the program will generally be slowed down by the screen redraw time. The benchmark option will give a flat-out speed indication. The hide option still has to display a line of text and will therefore not show the same kind of performance.
W-Life will use ctl3dv2.dll or ctl3d32.dll if present on your system, if not W-Life will still run but you will have boring dialog boxes.
The #I option in .lif files is unlikely to work, as the imbedded filename is likely to be in unix format, in principal a conversion and search utility could be put in the program, but as far as I can tell the #I facility has been rarely used.
The #L option has also been disabled, this appeared to write text on the screen at a given x,y position when the file is loaded, this is undocumented in the xlife.man entry so I have temporarily diabled it. Again it does not appear in any of the accompanying .lif files anyway.
